I wouldn't do it
more than once a day Reviewer: Merle 04-01-2004 SlimFast,
Carnation Instant Breakfast, Boost, Ensure etc are nutritious beverages that
can substitute as a meal but I wouldn't do it more than once a day. They are
invaluable for patients like those undergoing chemo, who often cannot stomach
solid food but can keep these liquids down.

my
father... Reviewer: Don B 03-12-2004 My father "lived" on
these beverages for a time after being treated for lymphoma.
|
food label &
hidden ingredients Reviewer: JOHN 04-05-2004 The food
label should disclose whether any really nasty stuff is also included.

These drinks are
filled with sugar Reviewer: marc 04-06-2004 They are junk
filled with nothing but sugar and a few vitamins.

Slim Fast
Drinks... Reviewer: MF 04-03-2004 My husband's oncologist
recommended them for us when my husband's throat cancer treatments precluded
him from chewing or swallowing real food.

Back when SlimFast
was popular... Reviewer: Moore 04-06-2004 Back when
SlimFast was popular in the early 90's, I lost 20 pounds in 1 1/2 months. I
thought the chocolate drinks were tasty. i usually ate a chicken salad for
dinner at nite.

lost 40
pounds Reviewer: Johnny 04-01-2004 i lost about 40 pounds
five years ago when i was on Slim Fast. I think I was on the diet for 4 months.
I lost more pounds the first month when i was exercising more. The diet overall
was a success for me.

years ago I
followed this diet religously Reviewer:
Timothy 03-06-2004 I remember when Tommy Lasorda was the
spokesman for this diet in those tv commercials, i couldn't believe how much
weight he lossed. So i decided to try the diet myself. I lost weight in the
beginning but then slowly gained it back because i wasn't buying the slim fast
cans as much (it pretty expensive). Anyways, i noticed about a year later Tommy
also gained his weight back.

I don't think
SlimFast works Reviewer: unknown 04-28-2004 to be honest,
I don't think slimfast works. Even if you *do* lose weight on that stuff, as
soon as you start eating again your body goes "ah! the famine is over! better
lay down some supplies just in case it happens again!" and you put on weight
really quickly. (at least that's what happened to everyone I know who was on
that stuff)

The
Drawbacks Reviewer: Michael 07-11-2004 One of the
drawbacks to meal replacement beverages & bars is that while they may be
good for occasional times when there isn't time for a real meal, they don't
help the dieter learn & reinforce habits about good eating. Those of us
who lost weight & have kept it off had to learn & practice how to
eat normal meals that allow us to eat with others in everyday situations.
In addition, they are often expensive in relation to what you actually get
for the money.

Snickers vs
Slimfast Reviewer: Helena 06-24-2004 A friend showed me a
meal replacement bar she was eating (don't recall the brand) that looked to
be all of TWO BITES big!! Of course someone can lose weight eating that
little tiny thing -- a Snickers bar that size would be pretty close
calorie-wise, supply energy, & -- if you took a multi-vit -- it would be
darn close in nutritional value too!

Meal Replacement
Bars & Shakes Reviewer: unknown 07-10-2004 I beleive
most meal replacement bars & shakes should be used only as a last resort.
Even then, packing a lunch or keeping a cooler stocked with healthy,
nutritious food would be cheaper & usually more satisfying. There are
even backpacks with cooler sections for those who can't get to a fridge or
cabinet.
