Description: A way people have claimed to lose weight quickly
and/or feel better.
There are different versions of fasting
diets. Some fasts allow no food, but some juice. Other fasts are water only.
Some fasts allow a few small fruits during the day and some include broth.
These types of fasting diets claim to cleans out your systems of
toxins and spiritually help you lose weight fast. The Drawbacks are that it
deprives you of nutrition, the weight loss is only short term and scientifically
its a form of starvation.

unhealthy Reviewer: Rob 03-29-2004 I urge any
of you out there considering to use this diet...not to! It is unhealthy and
can cause more harm than good!

What i know about
this diet Reviewer: Raul 03-29-2004 Okay, I've been
hearing more and more about a fasting diet/cleansing ritual. It's supposed
to contain maple syrup, cayenne pepper, and lemon juice. Sounds disgusting to
me, but I've heard people going days with this diet (where you apparently
ONLY drink this combination) and it both cleanses your body and you lose weight.

It sounds like
nonsense Reviewer: Kristen 03-27-2004 There is nothing
healthy about not eating anything for days. I am no Dr. but isn't that common
sense?

U should never try
this. Reviewer: Maurice 03-28-2004 never try to plan
your diet on an empty stomach. Just like you should never go grocery shopping
on an empty stomach. It doesn't work! Try siting down and thinking about it
when you've just had a good meal. Be objective. Look at the things in your
diet that are unhealthy. Keep a food diary for a couple of days if you have a
problem remembering what you've been eating. Then see where you can cut down
on some of the more unhealthy items and substitute better things, like
vegetables, fruits and complex carbs.

You should eat 3
meals a day. Reviewer: Oscar 03-29-2004 I would never try
this nor suggest anyone else try this type of dieting. A real diet should
consist or 3 meals per day and should also mix in exercise. There are many diet
plans out there. Go and choose a better one.

Don't make this
mistake Reviewer: Yolanda 03-29-2004 You are doing
yourself more harm than good if you attempt this diet. But don't believe me just
do a search on google and see what most opinions are on this diet. Its bad and
its not recommended at all.

Fasting
Diet Reviewer: Amy 03-21-2004 I'm sick of everyone
(friends and family) saying to me "ohh you don't need to lose weight, have
another ____ " (insert bad food here) - because throughout college
I've gained about 10-15 lbs. that I know I can lose, and it's actually
quite depressing. I admittedly eat terribly. For example...I won't eat in
the morning or mid afternoon, and then I'll be so hungry at night that I eat
WAY too much, and usually bad foods. Pizza, popcorn, anything bad really. I
do exercise, but not consistently enough, which I suppose is how I maintain
an "acceptable" weight. My main question is, HOW do you change your
lifestyle? Every day I say to myself that today will be the day I start
eating right. But that's always after I'm full, and when I get hungry again,
it's shot to hell :) I'd like to start eating breakfast again, adding more
veggies, and stop late night eating. It seems like I can go a few days eating
right, but then after it gets really difficult I always fold.

I Avoid Fasting
Diets Reviewer: Anna 03-24-2004 I started out here in
September wanting to lose 15lb, and managed to do it in 5 months. I would add
that exercise for me was a crucial contributor to my success. I started out
doing 2 mixed cardio and chisel classes per week at my Y, and have now added
in one session of combined cardio and weights at home, and one
predominantly weights session at the Y, taking my scheduled exercise to about
4 hours per week.
Throughout the whole time I was losing weight, I
never ate less than 1200 cals in a day, and my average was more like
1400-1600 cals per day. Personally, as a former bulimic, I would avoid
fasting or restrictive dieting.

Fasting is for
lazy dieters Reviewer: Stefanie 03-29-2004 Just figure
out why other diets aren't working for you. Maybe its price, convenience,
emotional reason etc...and find ways around this...then come up with your own
practical solution. Choose a healthy diet where you get your daily nutrients on
a daily basis. There are good diets out there and this 'Fasting' diet is just a
lazy way out. Even if you can get it to work for a weekend and you lose some
weight you will gain it all back again because this is not a diet you can stay
on continuously.

sryup and juice
diet??? Reviewer: Pink 03-29-2004 You don't kick start
healthy eating by guzzling syrup and juice. All that this "cleanse" will do
for you is clear your digestive tract of its contents. Any weight you lose
comes back as soon as you eat solid food. I think we can all agree that
overweight is not a condition of excess feces.

What i have
heard Reviewer: Tom H. 03-22-2004 I have heard from alot
of products (mainly from the radio) that say there are years worth of buildup
inside you and fasting is a way to cleanse the system out.

Fasting =
Cleansing ? Reviewer: Liz B 03-29-2004 A healthy colon
cleans itself. It sheds cells and nothing will "build up". The exception is,
perhaps, excessive constipation which may lead to problems but as long as you
have enough fiber in the diet and drink water you should be able to avoid
that. Colon cleansing is quackery.

This is just a
fad Reviewer: Steven 03-29-2004 This diet is probably
just a fad. I tried it and it helped me lose weight, but i wouldn't recommend
it. It is a very extreme way to diet. I think most people couldn't handle
Fasting. I was able to handle it once and probably won't try it ever again.
